Climate Episode 2.
There are two main seasons: the dry season and the wet season. The wet season occurs between April and October, while the dry season lasts from November to March. The coldest months are December and January, with an average temperature of 25.3°C. The hottest months fall between February and March, with temperatures ranging from 39.5°C to 39.9°C in the south, and March to May, with temperatures between 42.5°C and 45.5°C in the north.
During the wet season, rainfall varies from light drizzles to heavy downpours. Before rainfall, clouds often darken to shades of dark blue or blue-grey, though sometimes the change is not noticeable. In contrast, the dry season brings dusty, cold winds, especially around December and January. Dew and mist are common in the early hours of these months.
Before the wet season begins, Nigeria experiences intermittent period of intense heat in March, with occasional winds and drizzles signaling the upcoming rains. From April onward, weather conditions become milder, with heavy rainfall leading to cooler nights and occasional sunny days.
